Marea: A Culinary Gem
So we have decided to expand our “Taste this” segment from our podcast to our portal. This will be the first of many food and drink-inspired reviews based on our first-hand experience.
Last Sunday, my wife and I had some kid-free time and wanted to spend the day enjoying a nice meal at a new restaurant. We learned about Marea when visiting Esplora with the kids, and it was our first choice for the day.
The first thing that strikes you is the stunning panoramic view of the harbour. It’s as if you’re dining right on the water, and the sunset views are simply breathtaking. Whether you’re visiting for a romantic dinner or a special celebration, Marea provides the perfect backdrop.
Marea Restaurant is an absolute culinary treasure that left us speechless from the moment we stepped through its doors. Nestled in the heart of Kalkara Marina, Marea offers an exquisite dining experience that goes above and beyond all expectations. We were greeted with warmth and hospitality that set the tone for the evening. The restaurant’s contemporary design and ambiance are simply enchanting.
Now, let’s talk about the food! The menu at Marea is masterful, showcasing fine ingredients that take inspiration from both Asia and the Mediterranean . Each dish is a work of art, expertly crafted to delight both the eyes and the palate. We sampled a variety of dishes, from Sushi to delectable pastas, and every bite was a celebration of flavors and textures. The presentation was as impressive as the taste, making every dish a feast for the senses. I was pleasently surprised by the handmade pasta, cooked to perfection and paired with a luscious sauce that left me craving more (and my wife reaching for my dish).
Equally impressive was the Sushi. Every roll we tasted was simply a perfect balance of ingredients and textures that simply elevated the experience. Having a massive sweet-tooth, I could not shy away from ending this dining experience with a desert. We had a chocolate fondant and a coconut pannacotta. Both were exquisite, but the Coconut pannacotta was out of this world. It was a celebration for all my senses with every single spoonful. I have never had such a delicately balanced desert dish in my entire life. That is how good it was.
But it’s not just the food that sets Marea apart; it’s the impeccable service. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and passionate about what they do. They guided us through the menu, offered excellent suggestion, and ensured that every aspect of our dining experience was perfect. It was a breathe of fresh air as I haven’t had such an amazing service in a restaurant in ages.
