The need for a track
For years this has been promised by various governments to be a project in the pipeline for the country, but failed to materialize. The last we heard of this project was in November 2019 when the government did not accept the proposal to build the track in Halfar since the land was already eyed for industrial development. Unfortunately that seemed to be the final nail in the coffin.
A lot of people have zero clue about motorsport or have the shitty ideology that cars are simply a means to take you from point A to point B. These people stick by the notion that we do not require a track as it has zero impact on society… but couldn’t the same argument be used for football grounds, basketball courts, and so on?
The fact of the matter is that the Maltese have deep roots in motorsport, and there has always been the need for a track, not only for amateurs but also for the professionals. The track provide a safe environment were people can practice drifting, speed freely and safely, improving their lap speeds and perhaps even start their voyage into the world of motorsport. This track will also provide a space were someone can practice AN INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED FORM OF FUCKING SPORT!
This article may fall on deaf ears, but perhaps someone reading might change their stance if they stand against this track. Unfortunately we are quickly running out of room and the whole prospect of ever getting a track might very well never materialize… but lets just hope.
